|Department of Environmental Science|
The Post Graduate Department of Environmental Sciences was started at A. N. College, Patna through the recommendation of the Government of Bihar and was adopted by the Magadh University, Bodh Gaya in 1988. It is a UGC, New Delhi recognized course imparting M. Sc. degree in Environmental Sciences.
The department conducts teaching training and research programmes at M. Sc. and Ph. D levels.
The department is headed by Prof.(Dr.) Preety Sinha,[ M.Sc., Ph.D.]. She has teaching and research experience of more than 20 years. She has worked on 6 major research projects and currently working on two major research projects. More than 33 of her research articles have been published in reputed national and international peer reviewed journals. She has supervised research work of 9 Ph.D. scholars. She has to her credit publications in 7 books. She has participated in more than 40 international conferences and seminars. She is a member of 7 professional bodies. She has been conferred with many awards including the Congress of Zoology Gold Medal for outstanding research contribution in Zoology.
The department is engaged in a collaborative research project with National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Mumbai, on “Use of wetland based system for waste-water treatment.”
The department has on its roll a good number of reputed teachers specialized in their respective subject/areas of study.
Mission of the Course
To develop human resources through teaching, training and sensitizing the youth for appreciating the importance of environment in a holistic manner for human survival and welfare and to inculcate a positive attitude to respect nature.
To create a society of motivated citizens, committed to conservation, preservation and protection of the environment and striving towards a life of tranquility and peaceful coexistence of all life forms on the Earth.
